Cutting with a Roland GX-24

I'm trying to cut to a Roland GX-24 cutter. I choose the cutter in the drop down box and send it to cut, but nothing happens. Sometimes it will say that it is initializing and just set there. Then it may say it is cutting, but takes forever and nothing happens. What am I doing wrong? TIA

I finally got it to cut but it is extremely slow.
