My cut file isn't cutting where it's positioned on mat

Post by lionessaz »

MacBook Pro v10.10.5 (Yosemite), SCAL 3.075, 24" Silver Bullet cutter.

I've noticed this issue before and it is frustrating. I do my designing outside SCAL and import my finished SVG file into SCAL. When I place it on the mat for example at X0.25/Y0.25 (1/4" border around outside) it cut at about an 1/8" border so I figured I'll just adjust it so I moved the design on the virtual mat, even saved it in the new placement and it still cut at the 1/8" border. Doesn't seem to matter where I move my design, it still will cut the 1/8" placement. Can anyone tell me why? I can move it an inch or a fraction and it just cuts where it likes.

Thanks for your help,
Michele

In the Cut Settings window, are you using WYSIWYG mode or Origin Point? That controls where shapes cut. Also, do you use tip of the blade or the laser light to set the origin?

I was using Origin Point, thanks for the suggestion, I forgot all about WYSIWYG! One of those headsmack moments....

Can you explain your other question though please? I don't know what the laser light is.

Thanks!

A Silver Bullet has a laser light that's used to set the origin for some applications, such as Print + Cut. It has to be calibrated with the blade holder, however. You should see the light turn on sometimes... it's a little red light that will shine down on your material as you're cutting. That light is mounted under the carriage box, about an inch or so to the left of the blade holder.

I have a Maxx Air with SCAL user manual that you might like to use since the Maxx Air and the Silver Bullet were both made at the same factory in China. They are virtually the same machine:
