Unable to view .png files made in paint.net

Post by ehamilton1256 »

I often have this problem but don’t know why. I make a .png file in paint.net and try to I,port it to Scal4 to convert to an .svg file. Sometimes it works perfectly then sometimes it just shows an empty box.

If you design a PNG file with a transparent background, then SCAL will identify that transparent background and where the pixels of color begin, thus creating a trace line along the pixels upon using File>Import to bring in the PNG.

If you design a PNG file with a white background, then SCAL will only create a rectangle around it because the white background is made up of white pixels. At this point, you need to use the Trace Image function in SCAL to do the tracing if you want the white background ignored and a trace line place around other parts of the imported PNG.

SCAL has some excellent tracing options which I've covered in Chapter 5 of this user manual: https://www.iloveknk.com/0um/SCAL5/SCAL ... Manual.pdf
