Hi there,

I have designed some artwork in Affinity Designer that I want to cut. When I export the file as an svg from Affinity and then import into SCAL 4 pro - it doesn't import the file.

When I am exporting the file as an svg from Affinity Designer I have the following options:

1. Present (with 4 options): SVG (for export), SVG (for print), SVG (for web), SVG (flatten)
2. Raster DPI (with 6 options): 72, 96, 144, 192, 300, 400
3. Export text as curves for font independence: tick box


I have tried a number of different combo's, however nothing is working.

Hoping someone knows the answer and can help.

I can certainly help you figure this out. I've successfully exported from Designer and then imported into SCAL4P. I cannot recall if it was SVG, however. I don't think so because I was testing the ability to "die cut" a raster image with a vector shape in Designer and then bring it into SCAL. So, I must have been exporting as PNG instead. But I'll see what I figure out.

Okay, I played with it and it's working for me. Regarding the export window:

First, let's say this is just a basic shape... no text:
File>Export, click on SVG
Preset (SVG for Export)
Raster DPI: leave blank, select nothing
Leave the rest at default
Click on Export
Name your file.


Now, let's say you have created some text while in Designer:

File>Export, click on SVG
Preset (SVG for Export)
Raster DPI: leave blank, select nothing
Mark the box for Export Text as Curves
The Preset box will become blank... that's okay!
Leave the rest at default
Click on Export
Name your file.
