Issues importing a svg file from illustrator

I am trying to import a svg file created in illustrator.
If you look at the screenshots, one is of the file in illustrator, and the other is the imported file in SCAL.
Can someone explain to me why this is happening?

Did you convert the font to outlines before saving as an SVG? Also, when you save, you want to make sure that the box Preserve Illustrator Editing is UNCHECKED.
