Who else loves the new KnockOut Effect?

Post by ScrappyDew »

Some of you may already know this but the other day SCAL announced on their page that version 4.013 includes the effect of Knock Out. I made this video to demo it. But a video really isn't necessary as it's an easy process. I think it will be a welcomed addition to the SCAL 4 users out there.

I have had a bunch of fun making some of these....but then WHAT? I sure don't want to paper piece it so I guess I'd put a shadow layer around it and do P2C?

Has anyone taken it beyond the creating and actually cutting it? If so can you share a finished product? :?

These are the ones that people that have created I think most would use this for layering vinyl.

Thank you for the examples. Saw the update and had same question as Papasue. For vinyl it is perfect new feature.

Anyone know how to get these two images to cut out from one another. Tried the knock out effect and it doesn't want to work.

In what way is it not working? Your screenshot only shows a portion of the image and just saying it's not working doesn't explain what you expected and what actually happened. We'll get it figured it out! We just need more info.

Need to cut the hat out of the mouse. LOL. Because it is in vinyl we don’t want to layer too much and decided to cut the hat out of the mouse head. We did figure it out and I can post how to do it next week because I wrote it down at work. If you have a way of doing this please go ahead and post because your way may be different.

It kind of depends on how the image was originally brought into SCAL. For an HTV project, I would have used File>Place Image to import and then, under the Trace Image function, used Single Color for the Mode and then traced each color individually which prevents any overlap. But since I can't even see the Layers Panel, I don't know the "whole story."
