HELP! NEWBIE HERE! New computer & Sure Cuts A Lot RESOLVED

I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8 and since doing so, I am having issues with SCAL2 and my Cricut. For the first cut in each session it works fine but when I go to cut again in the same session the "Checking Mat....." box comes up but never cuts. I've left it for many minutes without any luck. If I turn off the cricut and shut down SCAL2 and reopen everything it will cut one time and then I have to go thru the shut down again. Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there a fix to it?

Just a guess. SCAL2 is pretty old now and may not be compatible with WIN8. Perhaps someone with both working will be able to help you. You might want to follow this post in case an answer shows up there.

Is your SCAL2 updated to its latest version 2.044? If not, give that a try. Otherwise, I'm not sure. But, I know people use it with Windows 8.

I have Windows 8 and SCAL 2 and am able to use it with my cricut without a problem.

make sure your cricut is plugged into a 2.0 usb port many of the new computers have usb3 ports but still have at least a couple of 2.o ones on them still.

Jen, did you upgrade to version 2.044? I am still using 2.012 and am afraid it won't be compatible with my cricut if I upgrade. TIA
