text on a path ???

How do i put text on an existing path of an image I just prepared to cut using the trace?
I choose the image path and text always starts at the middle , ..
( I chose break apart and ungroup already)

as an example to test text on path...I put a circle and elongated it to try (that is the purple color)
.If I choose a circle to use text on path and text starts at far left like i want it too....

but not on my image..?

Hi, if I understand you question correctly you want to put text on ONE of the paths in the image (I assume it is the one you've selected in the picture. If so,

I'd copy just that element and paste it on a new page (not a new file). then I would try the text on path. If successful you could then copy/paste from page2 to page 1 replacing the original element.

I understand that you cannot post the actual scut file and I appreciate your consideration for not doing so. If you have a link to the original file perhaps someone can work from it to be more accurate in answering your question.

I used Photoshop,
and then saved as a png,
to open and trace image in cuts a lot,
letters never turned out right so was adding letters later
....is that the right workflow to use ?

You can get the how to above. She will show you how to type and then get the letters where you want them to be.
She is showing in scal 2 but should be the same, I think, in scal 3.

generally speaking SCAL does not trace words well from png or jpg files so as far as workflow goes whatever works for you and adobe helps.

if you haven't tried Inkscape you might set aside a bunch of time to learn it as files created or traced in inkscape (svg) tend to come in to SCAL a bit cleaner.
