SCAL Export Plugins for Illustrator, Inkscape and CorelDraw

Post by craftedge »

We have export plugins for Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape and CorelDraw available for download here
http://www.craftedge.com/download/download_extras.html

These will allow you to send designs straight from Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape and CorelDraw to SCAL3.

* The CorelDraw plugin is only available for the Pro version of SCAL3.

Did I read somewhere that you had to have CS3 or later for Illustrator? (I have only CS2).
Thanks

Now this is really cool. Heretofore text, especially script fonts in Inkscape didn't trace nicely in SCAL so I tried it first to see what would happen.

I typed some words in Inkscape, converted to paths, ungrouped and did a union on some and not on others.

Selected extensions/export in Inkscape and it said send to ecal.

I wasn't sure if I should have saved the file or not so I didn't and just went on faith.
I was not asked for a file name or anything it just said exporting.

About the time I was going to look on my desktop for a file eCAL started to open and the text page opened, the letters are clear and each one is in it's own layer.

It appears that now we don't have to import an svg, trace it and do whatever. Just from within Inkscape just export to sCAL.!!! YEAH!!!

Second picture is my avatar. It is in layers in Inkscape. I exported to ecal and PURRRRFECT

I do not usually save scut files if I have the svg and now I know that I don't have to, at least right now until I finish playing. Do try it!

Had a few minutes to play.

I use an older version of Inkscape (V 0.46 I think) and was concerned this wouldn't work, but it does.

I did need to update SCAL3 to the newest version.

But all is good.... or I should say GREAT!

This didn't work for me with eCAL plug in version 1 and my Windows7 64 bit computer. Were that any special steps that you used for this?

Hi Heather, What didn't work for you?

Do you see that the plug in is installed in Inkscape? extensions/export?

All I did after installing the plug in was bring up an svg file.
Extensions/export

I got a message exporting to ecal

and after a minute maybe ecal opened with the file.

If I have ecal open it places the svg onto the open page with anything else that is on the page. This is cool if you have a couple or three svgs and want them all on the same ecal mat.
