Silhouette Cameo

Have just ordered a Silhouette Cameo, a belated 60th birthday present from my DH - lovely man May have to wait some time for it to arrive but in meantime have a query.

Question for anyone who already owns one and is using SCAL 3. My understanding is that the Cameo does not import svg files with the free Silhouette software, only by using the purchased designer software (which I do not require as I love SCAL). So how do you do PRINT and cut as understand you need to import the picture and have the S Cameo registration marks in order for it to cut around the PRINTED graphic/picture.

Any help appreciated.

My Cameo will be here on Monday. Are you saying you don't have to upgrade to the Silhouette designer to cut your svgs?

Maureen, Craftedge has this tutorial on printing with the Silhouette SD. It should work the same way with the Cameo.

Pat - my understanding is you can cut svg files using SCAL 3 with the Cameo but until I receive the new Cameo cannot try it out. If you already have SCAL2 then think you can still download SCAL3 free from craftedge.

Would love to hear from any new Cameo owners on how they are getting on with their machines.
