Getting Message "Cutting Complete" BUT Cricut did not cut!

Post by yensid74 »

So I've been working on my nieces birthday invititations, and have my SVG file ready to cut, but now I'm having a problem with Cricut. SCAL does the check regarding the firmware, mat, etc, then I get a pop message saying "Cutting is Complete" when the Cricut did not cut any of my shapes. I have tried rebooting the computer and disconnecting the USB cable but no luck?

Does anybody have any ideas how to get the Cricut to start cutting?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. :D

Have you cut with SCAL before?
Check the preview in SCAL to checkt aht there is something there to cut.

Just an idea - I haven't had this problem myself

Have you tried rebooting your computer? I had this happen once. I rebooted my computer and SCAL worked just fine after that.

I had the same problem a month ago and I emailed Todd. This was his reply:

Make sure the Cricut is connected directly to your computer and not
through a USB hub or another device such as your monitor or keyboard.
You also may want to re-do the firmware update. When doing the update,
make sure you connect the Cricut directly to your computer an disable
any anti-virus software you have running before doing the update.

If you ever have problems cutting, make sure you reset the Cricut
(turn if off and then back on) before trying to cut again.

Note:
I am not sure how this works with the new firmware...this is what I did last month, before the problem with the new DS update and SCAL.

I had this same problem just yesterday!! It told me I had cut a Dingbat but it hadn't done anything. I ended up trying it 3 times and still no cutting. I went into my Dingbat, welded & then unwelded it...and then for some reasons it worked after that. Maybe just a coincidence?

On occasion I have had this happen to me, usually when I am cutting one small item. What I have found is that if I move the character to another part of the mat, or add another character on the mat, it will recognize it and cut for me. It's weird.

Well after becoming extremely frustrated the Bug wouldn't cut, I simply turned everything off. I came back to my project yesterday hoping to figure out the problem, and wouldn't you know it, the Cricut is cutting fine. Don't know what the glitch was, I'm just happy it's back up.

Here is a thread of the very same question....maybe one of these will help answer your question. I just had the very same thing happen again. I unplugged the cricut and plugged it back in and re-booted my computer...and then it worked fine. I know that you have to plug the cricut directly to your computer...not through a hub. Good luck. ;)

watch that if you only have one item on your cutting mat that it doesn't have the weld box ticked. If there is only one thing it can't be welded to anything and that can cause the machine to say it has cut when it hasn't.
