Hi Everyone
Someone asked me how to host their files on their blog. Unfortunately I have no idea. I don't have a blog.
So I thought I would post the question here.
So can some of you who host files for sharing on your blogs give a small review on what you are using. The pro's and con's of the service and maybe a short tutorial how to share the files on your blog.
I have seen some mentioned in other post:
* Google documents
* 4Shared http://www.4shared.com
* Opendrive http://www.opendrive.com
* Box http://www.box.net
I have no idea of these services and I am sure there are plenty of people out their who would like to know a little more on this topic.
What file sharing service do you use for your blogs????

Wouldn't mind seeing answers to this too. I would like to start a blog this summer and started looking at the file sharing services same as you. Those of you that are using them would have the best input on pro's and con's of what you are using.

I'm using 4shared. It works good for me and I find it easy to use.

I do not have a blog...but saw BOX once...VERY cool, because it does not take you away from the blog. You click on the link and the download starts immediately. From a downloaders perspective this was GREAT!

I've tried a few but have settled on box.net and really like it. Easy for me, easy for my downloaders.

Box.net does look good. However I think the functionality you mentioned about not taking you away from the blog is only available if you pay for the service. The free service opens to file to be downloaded on the Box site. It is less cluttered the the 4Shared service and probably easier to download the appropriate file for the less computer savee user.gj1 wrote:I do not have a blog...but saw BOX once...VERY cool, because it does not take you away from the blog. Box offers a web address link so that can be added to your blog.
Here is the FAQ's for Box http://support.box.net/app/answers/list ... ntercept/1
Here are some instructions for adding a Web address ( download links) to your blog pages.
For Blogger http://www.google.com/support/blogger/b ... swer=41379
Wordpress http://en.support.wordpress.com/links/
Both look very easy.
I hope this helps those people who want to start up a blog and start sharing their files
Thanks for the others offering suggestions.
Cheers

Re: What file sharing service do you use for your blogs????
Here are some files I have uploaded to Opendrive and Box to see how easy both are.
Opendrive
Flower Gate fold https://www.opendrive.com/files?25148081_HMLHN
Flower Pop out card https://www.opendrive.com/files?25148083_cAaQR
Box
Flower Gate fold http://www.box.net/shared/63tdr36z6l
Flower Pop out card http://www.box.net/shared/jqpv8ks94r
Opendrive offers direct linking to files if you follow these guidelines:
Opendrive

Opendrive offers direct linking to files if you follow these guidelines:
So if you have a blog you should be able to get a direct download link that does not take the user away from your blog. However direct download is limited to certain file types and svg is not one of them. Zip is so you will need to zip up your files you want to share.Is hotlinking free?
OpenDrive will enable direct linking of your files if you upgrade your account or help us promote OpenDrive.
You can find, display or create webpage, which contains visible link to OpenDrive website and enter URL in My Profile. After that hotlinking will be instantly enabled.
