Welding question

Post by Laurieinaz »

I made a title (which I will share if I ever get it to work) in Inkskape, placing the letters in an overlapping fashion. Then I imported it to SCAL and it looks as if it should be welded but it still cuts out the letters individually. Obviously, I've missed something here. Can anybody tell me what I'm doing wrong?

merely overlapping the letters does not weld them together.

I'll put the directions in a new post for everyone to see. Hope it helps you out!

To weld the letters after you have them overlapped

1. Edit>Select All
2. Path>Object to Path
3. Path>Union

Thanks for the advice. I neglected to mention that I had already done the path/union thing and it still didn't weld when it came time to cut.

I have welded a word with Inkscape. How do I open it in SCAL?

Under your File tab in SCA you'll see the Import option.

I'm sorry. I'm still not getting it. I've read the tutorial and I got a weld to work once, but I don't know why. Here's what I've done.
Overlapped my letters.
Select all
Path > Object to path
Path > Union
Save

When that didn't work, I tried the above on each individual letter. Still not working.

Any thoughts?
