Basic help needed!

I have SCAL2 I typed in a word and have a graphic that I want to weld together to make 1 piece. But when I click weld, I loose the inside of my letters---like a lower case a--in the preview the middle of the a is not there, so when it cuts it will not have the center piece...what am I doing wrong? HELP!

I finally got it to work, after much frustration!!!!

Yeah, I've had that problem. You have to ungroup and uncheck the weld for that center piece.
