How to find font

Post by Kristeng18 »

Can someone please tell me how to find which font I used on a finished saved project. It's been merged and everything.

Hi, select the T (text tool) from the left side menu
Click on your word or letter and the text properties panel will open showing the font used.
NOTE: this only works if you created the text in SCAL…not an import of an svg or a jpg.

I have eCAL and this works for me.

it has a font selected but its not the one i used. this is after everything is merged together and completed. i can't get the text properties to come back up when i click on it, it just gives the appearance options. the text brings up for new text.

If your text has been changes to lines, you won't be able to locate the text with your text tool. The next best thing you can do it take a sample of your text (hopefully the letters aren't touching, and go to: http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/
You can download your sample image, and it will give you options of what letter it thinks each one is. You will type in the letter in the little box, and then it will give you choices of what it might be.

Sorry I erred with my advice and Mitzi is correct about not being able to identify a font post saving.,.,..brain freeze

What I find useful is using the feature Window/Project Notes. You can leave yourself a note about font used, cut settings etc there and it is saved with the file and there for reminding you about anything dealing with the project, including where you got the image in the first place.

I never knew about that notes window, Sue! That's awesome. I will definitely be using that.
