Need name for this font, similiar to Bank Gothic(resolved)

Post by Wendy »

I used this font in SCUT2, but when I upgraded to 3 it lost the name of the font. Does anyone know what this font it? I know it was free because I don't pay for fonts, but it is very similiar to Bank Gothic I've found online which costs $30.

Hi. I don't like to read and run but I really don't know, I wish I did. I hope someone comes by that knows their fonts better than I.

There is a site called whatthefont.com...I think that is what it is...and you upload a picture or something and get your answer.
My pictures and files are available for a limited time only.

Yes you are right, the site is whatthefont.com. I always used a low res photoshop file to this site.

I had the same problem. :(

I always save the name and size of the font in my cut file name and it says it was Black Gothic, but I can't find a font anywhere by that name. Unfortunately, I really need to match it exactly as this will be going on the window of a business and they want it to match the existing work.

Why not do a trace of this one that you've posted? Wouldn't that work?

Heres an old trick we used to use before SCAL had a way to see font names. Open a copy of the scut2 file in a text editor like word pad and look through the code for the font name. Search for the word "font" and it should be near there. Or in your case you might want to search for the word "gothic". Even if the font has been converted to paths the font-name is still usually buried in there somewhere.

Deb, a trace didn't bring up the font I used, the S didn't match.

Thanks for the tip about word pad, I'll try that right now! Blessings.
