here is a bed .svg file but I dont know how to get rid of the line extending up from the pillow.

No problem. I'm pretty new at this. So I have been watching and reading a lot of tutorials. HeatherM site has great ones and Scrappydoo is good also. All I did was put it on the node function(the one under the arrow) and in the left upper corner there is a plus and a minus sign and you click the nodes (the squares you see on the object) then click the minus. You keep doing this until all the nodes you want are gone. :)

i am very very new... I have watched a few of Heather's stuff too. I will check out scappydoo's too

Hi, I saw your wonderful bed and then read about the problem with erasing the line. I used to use the node tool but then I discovered the eraser in Inkscape 0.47

Yesterday I posted a video tutorial on how to use the eraser in Inkscape 0.47. This may be easier than deleting nodes if you are using Inkscape .47
