Can anyone tell me how to cut a "natural circle" monogram? I have Inkscape, a Mac computer, and Sure Cuts A Lot. I don't have a clue where to start.

Sorry, I don't understand "natural circle". I'll be happy to help once I understand what it is you want to do.

A picture might help.

I found this picture online...it is actually an oval...like this but a circle....I've seen in it embroidery designs a lot. I'd like to cut it in vinyl.

That helps, I'll work on it in the morning. Perhaps someone else will come along and beat me to it. Either way you'll get it.

thanks

Thank you! I've tried but can't come up with anything. Maybe I'm just brain dead! ;)

No problem. What initials do you want in the circle. If I can do it I might as well do it all, I'll also do my best to show you how!

I wanted RCE and JCR....the C is the last name so it would be larger. I'm still playing around in inkscape right so maybe I'll make a discovery too! Thanks again!

Easiest free way is to start with this font, and adjust letter widths to correct the distortion, etc. to a circle
http://simplythebest.net/fonts/fonts/hm-black_oval.html

or buy the circle font
You can get a font like this from Harold's Fonts, for sale at

Thanks Kay, I had actually just purchased that font when I got your reply. But when I open it in Sure Cuts A Lot, it only shows the letters that would be on the right side. Have you used it in SCAL before? I can make a perfect monogram in a Word document per the instructions but I can not make it work is SCAL. :(

Now that you mention it, I couldn't get this to work in SCAL either, though I know other people who could. I only had the right hand letters in the palette like you have.
If you have scal2, put the monogram together in word, take a screen shot of it, save that as a jpg, then import the jpg into scal and autotrace it.
If you have scal 1, you will have to use inkscape. Set the monogram up there, convert to paths and save for import into SCAL1.
