I need some help PLEASE

Post by lowcarbgirl »

I need to be able to cut a circle 8" but then cut another 8 1/8' around the first to form a ring.... then I need to weld to that Happy Birthday 1/2" to 3/4" tall continuiously around the entire circle so that when I cut it out I get a hollow ring with Happy Birthday as a frame.

Can that be done and if so how..... I can't get it to work and I am getting frustrated.

It can be done! I found an old Inkscape tutorial on the web on friday that seems to do what you want. I played with it a bit and was able to follow the directions and come up with something.

Don't know how familiar you are with Inkscape but this might help. BE SURE TO READ THE COMMENTS AT THE END, there are several suggestions, corrections and comments that I found helpful.

I'm intrigued with it and have started to think about doing a TUT for my blog. If you get there first, let me know. I'll post a TUT when I figure it out and am sure it will work and that it will cut!

Good luck

Do you know how to use those shape tools? I want to put a circle and put my letters on a circle but can't seem to figure that out either.

Is it my imagination or is inkscape a little complicated for beginners?

AH, if you have it or can do it, please feel free. I'm making it up and trying to learn. Would give LCG a quicker answer and give her what she wants.

Your post this morning might be what's wanted. I have no idea how you did it. Would you share a TUT for us? Thanx
