When I am trying to cut a project it keeps coming up as "initializing", what does this mean and why is it happening?
thank you

You need to specify which cutter you're using and what version of SCAL you're using. I may not be able to help you but those are two key pieces of information that will be needed by someone who can.

I apologize for the delay...
I am using the "MODEL SC PLOTTER" 24" SCAL4Pro

before I could finagle it and it would cut but now it is just saying "initializing" and freezes.
thank you

I've never used that brand of cutter. But here are a few things to verify:

(1) Make sure the communication settings in the cut window are still correct. For example, some cutters can have the baud rate changed but if it is changed it needs to match what is set on the cutter itself, as well. If you click on the Test Communication, does it work? If not, then you know it's nothing to do with the file you're trying to cut. So you can skip number (3).

(2) If the Test Communication failed, make sure the cutter is online. Assuming you're using USB, make sure the USB cable is secure on both sides (computer side and cutter side).

(3) If the Test Communication works, then make sure you test just a simple basic shape from the Library in SCAL to make sure it's not the file itself that is causing some kind of issue.

Chances are it's none of these, but these are easy things to check.
