I have a lace background paper that is made up of flowers that I am trying to figure out how to cut with SCAL.
It was a PNG file. I opened it in Inkscape and have turned it into a SVG file and tried to import it into SCAL to cut it and when I try, it is just a red box with nothing in it. I've tried everything I can think of...can anyone help me figure this one out? I've tried to to trace to bitmap and I don't think I quite know how to do that because the trace to bitmap box never goes away. I click "ok" and then close it...is that right?
It's a digital scrapbooking file that I downloaded as a "freebie" so I'm so sure it's ok to share it if anyone wants to try it for me
Thanks,
Shawn

Thank you, I just sent it. It's the JPG file.
Re: Need help with Inkscape and SCAL
I took a look at it.
It's workable, but with a lot/a bit of work. there are a large number of nodes that need to be deleted from the design because we're not starting with a solid color image. the nodes that need to be delete are quite errant all over the design and there are a good number of lines that overlap, etc. this is a lot more evident if you view the file in outline mode in inkscape.
I would try to fix it for you, but I don't have time these days as I'm back in school full time.
all I did:
*open file in inkscape
*click on the file
*click: path: object to path: trace bitmap (set brightness cutoff threshold to 0.99)
*save as an svg file
could be that you're just deleting the wrong image or you didn't select the image before tracing it (path: object to path, etc)
make sense?

Is this spam?
Re: Need help with Inkscape and SCAL
I was thinking the same thing earlier. I always check Active posts when I'm here and there were about 10 posts from this same person.
