jpg to svg - need help

Post by cassie »

I have version 1 of SCAL and just now started trying it even though I've owned it for a while.
What I'm trying to do is take a jpg image of a solid object and create a cut file from it. I played around with tracing it and it cut a little of two parts off. When I import into SCAL it's just a double outline. Will this cut correctly or does it need to show as a solid or single outline. Can someone give me some basic instruction on how to do this? thanks.

It needs to show in SCAL as a single outline in order to achieve a solid cut.

Okay I got that part. I can see the double line and watched a tutorial on how to get rid of it. My problem now is that when I trace it leaves a gap and doesn't go completely around the shape I'm tracing.

If you use the paint bucket in Inkscape to trace you can set it to fill gaps. There is a mini tutorial on my blog.
