help with lines in inkscape

I'm trying to cut a vinyl sign for my logo. When I pull the jpg into inkscape a single line turns into more than one. Help

I'm new to inkscape I will have to work a bit more to figure that out but thanks for your quick response

Can you post a pic? Can you do break apart and remove one?
