Ok, I've done this a million times and now for some reason things aren't wanting to go my way....
K, I created a doll template in photshop, saved as jpeg, went into inkscape, opened the file, highlighted it to where it has the arrows around it, went to path, trace bitmap, hit ok and then saved it as a plain svg. It doesn't open up. What else do I need to do? haha, heavy sigh!
Thanks!
Am I doing this right?
Re: Am I doing this right?
trace bitmap, update
hit ok
close box
pull vector image off the top of the original and move to the center mat
View...Display Mode...Outline
Original disappears...that is ok
Path Break Apart(boxes around a bunch of things)
Click off to the right and then back on to the center of the mat anywhere
Do what you want to with the individual pieces move them around for different colors and group them or just asign different colors to them by clicking on the selected part and then clicking on the color palette below...color will show in a second
Now, View...Display Mode...Normal
SAVE
Hope this helps...it may or may not be explained well...someone else might be more clear.

Re: Am I doing this right?
Thanks so much for taking the time to explain. It just dawned on me that I've done converting svg's to a different file than turning a jpeg to an svg. Anyway, thank you for explaining.
Have a blessed evening.
