since making this tut SCAL has been upgraded and we can now weld directly in the program - this tut shows basic Inkscape techniques.
The help files in Inkscape also contain tutorials and a very good online user manual.

Hi Susi, and thank you for the tutorials......But I must be doing something wrong as when I select my font I can see it in the box ( I am assuming that means the font is available to use) when I type, none of the letters show up! Help. is the font 'open' since it show up. Thank you in advance.

Never mind, it's always operator error, :oops: on my part! I didn't have the "A" selected to type text.
The tut is great.
