Need help with Inkscape and faces

Post by sherrintxs »

I am trying to make a "stencil" of a face, can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong? I am not getting what the trace bitmap box shows me when I move the oringinal photo out of the way. Here is a pic of what I am trying to say..I am confused on how to fix this. Can anyone help?

Sherri, You are not doing anything wrong, you just need to find the correct settings for your trace. This pix is hard for me to see but I looks like you are missing the eyes or other facial features, here are a few things you can try. It's a try it until you get it game.

* Increase the number in the brightness cuttoff or
* Use the Edge Detection instead, play with those numbers

If you want to post the .jpg/png image someone will give it a try for you if this doesn't work. There are a lot of folks here who do this kind of image so I'm sure you will find the answer.

I like to do a grayscale series, then you can ungroup them and use the trace that gives the best results. Laura has more on this on her blog. http://thealliancetrader.blogspot.com/2 ... scape.html

I found this video that might be helpful. I watched it a couple of months ago. the volume is really low so be in a quiet place to hear all Amanda has to say.
