an Inkscape question

Post by CBJPL31 »

I have traced an image in Inkscape but when I transfer it into SCA it has the double lines. Is there a way in Inkscape that I can black out the image so that won't happen? There is only one line when I trace and save it so not sure why there is two when I import it. So frustrating!

Thanks, Nicole, for posing this question as I have had this happen also. There must be an easier way than what I do to avoid this: Open the file in my graphic program (PaintShopPro); fill in the design with black; "save-as" a .jpeg; open the file in Inkscape, etc. (as you have been doing).

I know Inkscape could do what I am doing in my graphics program - I just haven't learned Inkscape that well yet!

Same with me... I do all editing in photoshop and just use inkscape to trace. I am sure inkscape has capabilities, but I can't figure them out.

How do you trace in Inkscape?
I tried to find out through the help screen, but couldn't find directions.

I have photoshop.

Thanks

I too have the dreaded double line syndrome.... I wish I knew how to fix it, that's going to be my project tonight. But, if there is anyone out there that knows how, please save me from another sleepless night and share your expertise! I was going to look for a way to "fill" these lines. I'll keep you posted if I stumble upon a solution.

when you trace in Inkscape you need to have a solid outline. If you trace a line drawing then Inkscape will trace both sides of the line hence the double outlines. Just select all then Object>Ungroup, and then delete the lines you don't need.
remember that if you click on the Help button on the top tool bar in Inkscape you will find basic tutorials and also a very detailed user manual.
