Need help opening a picture in Inkscape

I have a picture that is in microsoft photo editor it is a GIF IMAGE and i want to put it in inkscape Can someone please tell me how? Thanks so much for all the help.

You could always snip it and save as a jpg. I can't remember if Inkscape recognizes GIF

just import it as normal - .gif is a supported graphic format for inkscape

Inkscape will import a gif, but not trace as nicely as a jpg or a png. The snip to get a jpg or a png is a better route. eCAL/SCAL3 also imports gifs.

Give it a try.

LOL that could be because I never use the trace in inkscape - I either use the bucket fill or manually trace it with the bezier tool :)

I took me a long while to learn and appreciate the bucket tool in Inscape and sometimes it is better. I hope you were successful with trace!

Firstly try to save your file in a GIF formate and then try to open. Hopefully that will work.
