I feel like a beginner!
How do I connect the back side of the fan to the design? For the life of me, I can't remember how!

I deleted the single line down the one side and connected the open places. Then broke it apart and re-combined it so that the fill showed the design (combined inner pieces and then used Path/Exclusion with the outside). Then I added rectangles and used Path/Union. HTH

My gosh, Heather, that sounds so confusing! I did try path/union and half the design disappeared. That darned Union button gives me fits. I just checked your new improved fan and it is perfect. I made it as a surprise for Lola. Thank you so much.

Union works on the filled area when you have open paths, that's why I had to close the path and then break it apart and re-combine it. Not sure how to describe it better without creating a pictorial.
