Inkscape and text traces

Post by balletcostumemom »

I'm noticing that on several logos and such that I've been given to cut, the text does not import well and I've had to do searches for the font itself and re-do the lettering. So far, I've been able to find all the fonts easily, but just wondering is there something I'm not doing correctly. Is there a better way to trace an image when the image already contains text and the picture file? This is Inkscape 0.47 and I've just been trying to do it the same way I would trace an image.

It is probably just that we notice the rounded corners and other imperfections much more on text than on other things since are eyes are trained as to exactly what the text should look like. You can try spending more time to get a finer trace but it is always gonna be best if you can recreate from a font.

It also depends on the resolution of your original file. If I have the font, I always re-set the type.
