What did I do wrong?

Post by lindamac »

I found a picture of a cupboard with cups in it. It wouldn't trace so I made one of my own and used various svg's in my stash. Here is a picture of what it is supposed to look like and the svg which doesn't show up in SCAL2. I get an error message. I saved it as an svg so don't know what I did wrong. any ideas? I worked on this for over 2 hours and would sure hate to lose it! It looks perfect in Inkscape in outline form but looks like a blob in the normal form.

I tried a lot of things, and none of them worked until I pasted your vector into a new file and saved it. Out of curiosity, what versions of Inkscape/SCAL2 are you using?

I had to ungroup a few times, and I found a few open paths around the middle tea cup handles. and then I copied the middle stuff and used the paint bucket to recreate your image...

Then put it all back together.

HTH.

And maybe Heather's will work too...

Hi Heather, I am using Ink 47 and SCAL2-29. I tried everything I could think of in Inkscape. I can't cut anything because both of my Cricuts and card stock are packed away for a pending move. All you prayer warriors, pray that our house appraises where we need it to be. I'd hate to unpack everything again!! The appraiser was here yesterday, on a Sunday of all things. I've been trying to sell my house and get out of Vegas for 5 years
So thank you both Heather and DogCarbon. I really appreciate all your help. I thought this cupboard was so cute and just had to have it.

I loved your file, Linda, and downloaded the various versions to see if I could get it to cut. I ended up resizing dogcarbon's file in Inkscape, and exporting as a .bmp to trace in SCAL2. Then I made various pages for my A2 card layout.
I will attach the photo of the card and my .scut file below.

I just knew when I saw the original image that it would make a beautiful card, and you have outdone my expectations.

Congrats to all who contributed to making this for the rest of us.
