Creating images using PSPro

Does anyone here use Corel Photoshop Pro XI to create their images? I am trying to make a birthday invite for my daughter and I can't figure out how to layer a jaguar image onto the invite without the jaguars background appearing? I hope this makes sense. I will attach copies of the images.

Ok I can't attach a PSP image. But I want to copy the jaguar only, not his background which appears as a white box, and place him as a layer on an invite. Any help is appreciated.
