Blog question

Post by raewyn64 »

Sorry, not quite a scrapbook question but I need some help from people who have a blog. I am using Blogger.com so my blog is blogspot.com.
I am trying to post on it a .svg file from my computer and want to put it in a posting. I have opened up a new posting, typed in some text and a a word I want the .svg file to link to. I highlighted this word then I used the hyperlink button and changed the type of hyperlink to file: and then entered in the location and name of the file. I have the file directly on my c: drive and the file only had a name of table.svg so no spaces in the name or address path.
But when I then publish and then click on the hyperlinked word nothing opens. I can link to other web sites fine but having problems linking to a file on my computer.
How do those of you who share your .svg files get them on to your blog page?

Thanks for any help - this is frustrating me :D

Are you able to create a link for another file type? For example, try something simple as a test. Create a text file from notepad, or a Word document. Make a link on your blog for the text or document file. Can you successfully open those from your blog? Contact a friend and see if your friend can as well. If so, try creating a new link for the SVG file the same as you did for the text or document and test the SVG link with your friend and yourself. If the text or word link does not work, perhaps you are not creating the link correctly. In this case, perhaps you could contact your blogging software or host company and ask them about creating a link. HTH

Raewyn,

I've tried it too and blogger won't/can't accept a .svg file. dhoffman uploads her's to mediafire and posts a link to it.

http://dscrapbookingroom.blogspot.com/2 ... s-svg.html

I've experienced that she adds .txt after the .svg in the file name in the download and it took me forever to figure out that I needed to delete the .txt and then I had an extension .svg which Inkscape recognized.

I don't know if there is any otherway, but unless you can get Dan99 to tell you how he does it this might work.

Let me know since I'd like to directly link an .svg file from my blog as well.

Regards,

Susan
