New SCAL5 User with Brother Snc CM650WX (wifi version)

Post by Frogquilter »

I am thrilled with SCAL5's features found since downloading the program tonight. With my Scan n Cut requiring fcm formats, and being wifi only, am I correct that the only way to send files to my cutter is exporting it as an SVG file, then importing it to Canvas Workspace? Is there a SCAL group made up of Brother users? I would love to know any tricks to help get efficient as quickly as possible with the new software. Thank you!

You can export files as FCM format versus SVG. Go to File>Export and change the file extension from SVG to FCM from the drop down menu. You can also convert an entire folder of SVG files to FCM in one batch step under File>FCM Batch Convert. The instructions for that are in Section 2.07.3 here:

Thanks Sandy. I figured out the batch conversion about 1 am, and it is a huge feature! I have to file to USB, since it can't be done wirelessly, but that is ok! SCAL5 may become a very close friend!
