Definitely gonna try with foil with PnC. I have the Gazelle and use the Funtime software for PnC with favorable results depending on the complexity of the shape. The foil will make even the simplest shape look fantastic as an emblishment.

I have a Gazelle and I have SCAL3 but I don't see an option to import .wpc files. On my version of SCAL, they don't even show up as readable files. How are you importing them?

I just selected the layer for the lettering, then clicked on File>Print. Since I only have a B&W printer at work but I think the lettering was the simulated color because it printed very light...black would have printed dark. That problem might be resolved by selecting the svg and using Path>Combine in Inkscape. Different versions of SCAL handle svg differently with SCAL1 being the most tempermental.
