Well, I must admit, I own SCAl 1, SCAL 2 and now MTC. Let me start by saying that I like both programs, but as only a normal computer user, I find MTC easier to use. I dislike the interface of SCAL...I could never get the boxes to line up right on my computer and it drove me nuts..to many boxes all ...

This is a cricut issue....cricut has not updated their drivers to be compatible with windows 7 yet. It seems to only be an issue with those using windows 7 on a 64 bit computer. Here is a link that will fix the problem for you. It worked on two of my friends computers with this same issue. Good luck...
