Mixed reviews on that one, but I've heard The sizzex will work with SCAL. I wanted print & cut capabilities too, so that's why I chose the way I chose. I'll post a review of it when I get hothands on the knk.

I am getting a knk zing... it comes with mtc but I'm hoping I'll be able to use SCAL with it too. The lynx is pretty cool, the sil just doesn't have the oomph to cut through 85lb paper unless u do a double cut, not a good fit for me, however it DOES CUT BEAUTIFULLY.

Inkscape is free and can convert files to dxf and couple if others. Svgs have been around a long time & they're pretty standard. Many cutters use svgs. Take a deep breath, there are way better cutters out there that don't have greedy idiots manufacturing them:)

I would imagine that duty and shipping charges are part of the cost of the machine. I surely don't want these retailers to go out of business nor large losses. I've always been pro Mom & Pop over the big chains anyday. It's only that 500 plus dollars is a alot of pocket change that I don't have ...
