just been thinking on this - I don't see why the update stops your machine being found.

maybe drop craftedge an email as scal should still work fine without the update. I don't always update right away and I can still cut to both my cutters

I don't have Make the Cut because I have a Mac and it doesn't work on a Mac.

I'm the same, use a mac - they did do a port of MTC but it used wine ( software that emulates windows) to run so is not a true port (not native to mac OS)

I believe that you can and that you can also use repro glue on card stock and put paper on that to cut (the card acts like a mat)

it's a good option if you cut a lot of vinyl. most paper crafters would have this turned off.

Not sure it's the update as I have 3.053 on mac (current) and it works for me but that might be be a mac thing!! not your file - that's how it's been described but if I type words and save as .scut3 they open as editable. so I would drop craftedge a email, explain what has happened and see if they c...

just thought, if the image is raster image (jpg, png etc) it won't work, you need to trace it first.
then, once traced, it might be worth doing colours in stone not the whole thing.

only thing I can think of is re-download the install file for scal3 and install over the one you have - something may have gotten corrupted somehow.

if that does not work, drop craftedge a email with the problem - say you have trying a re-install- and see if they can shed light on it.

when you open scal it only has one layer but as you add items it will add layers. or you can do it manually by clicking the add layer button in the layers menu or use the layers menu item.

all you do then, is turn off (click the eye) the layer to cut (or not cut if you turn the layer off)
