For other reasons, I use a font manager and temporarily install fonts when I have to use them in a program that requires them to be installed.
Maybe that would work for your embroidery machine too ?

Re: Inkscape
I'm planning to buy the SCAL demo after they open it and I can get the most time out of my 15 day trial. Just an FYI, the demo cuts a watermark through your design. What is Inkscape ? It is a free vectorization program....in other words it turns shapes, etc into things your cutter can cut. SCAL 2.x...

Another good reason not to buy cartridges or a gypsy.
And a good reason to never allow automatic updates of drivers, etc.
Just sayin'

Re: SCAL Isn't Cutting A Whole Lot
Needing a firmware update for your Cricut from Provo-craft in order to install Sure Cuts a Lot is no different than needing a windows update or a .net framework update from microsoft in order to run a newly purchased program. JMO. Email tech support here at craft edge and you will find they can help...

Re: New firmware update and Scal newbie
The other current threads on several boards all indicate that SCAL works with the current firmware/CDS. Everything I have read states that I should be able to get the 2.1 firmware from the Trial version of CDS but I also did that but no luck. Is there any way of taking my firmware back from 2.3 to 2...

Re: Photoshop and SCAL
SCAL can only cut a vectorized path, so you would need to create your item in photoshop and trace it with inkscape, save it as an .svg and then import into SCAL. There are many tutorials on inkscape, including on susanbluerobots blog. and here's another how to trace tutorial http://thefrugalcrafter....

Re: Projects end up with cut lines using trial version of CDS
I failed to add that if it's a CDS file, then SCAL shouldn't affect it. Must've not been quite awake yet when I replied. I know I apprently misread the first time, because I thought it was a SCAL project. Sorry. Anyway, I tried to log onto the cricut board, but it's down now. I am really curi...

Re: Projects end up with cut lines using trial version of CDS
after the SCAL update the cutting is soooo slow I did see some posts on this, but then I saw mention that the 1.015 version download on the home page here is actually 1.016 and that it seemed to cut faster. I haven't seen a significant difference, but I usually cut slow anyway. Glad it seems to be ...
