New machine on the market: LOKLIK

There's a new cutter on the market, the LOKLIK. It "looks like" a Cricut Explore. I don't know a lot about it. An ad for it popped up on Facebook. Everything about it screams Cricut-clone. Anyone here have one yet? And, of course, the Wishlist is that this machine be supported by SCAL. It'...

Re: Inkscape and Cameo

If you did all that, you might like using GIMP to trace the outlines. I use the magic wand selection tool to select the white background of images, then inverse the selection - which gets me the shape outlines I want. You can then save the selection paths as SVG. The magic wand tool has a lot of par...

It's not mine. It's Scouts. They're an advertising or creative resources company of some sort. They put out a calendar every month. I just assembled one using SCAL and a Cameo.

I wish I did lots more! I post pictures of just about everything I cut. So my lack of posting is not a lack of sharing, it's a lack of doing.

Re: SCAL on silhouette cameo

I'm running with a Cricut using SCAL 2 and a Cameo using SCAL 3. The two versions live next to each other quite comfortably.
SCAL 3 is a free upgrade, so just download and install it.

SCOUT Creative's June Calendar

I knocked out SCOUT Creative's latest calendar this evening.
I used GIMP to trace the pieces and used the SVG paths exported from there in SCAL. I usually use Inkscape to clean things up, but I skipped that this time and am pleased with how it came out.

Re: Help with choosing new cutting machine

Glad to hear you're happy. I believe the Cameo has the best Print & Cut of any of the cutters. The eclips does some unique things, too - cutting & scoring. It's nice to see the selection of quality machines going up, and they seem to be finding niches to differentiate themselves. And make pe...

Re: Difference in Screen and Mat Image Placement?

Shooting in the dark here, but check your paper size for printing. There's some kind of interplay between the mat size and paper size that is a bit confusing. When cutting 8 1/2" x 11" paper, I always tell SCAL I'm using an 8 1/2" x 11" mat even though I really use a 12" mat...

Re: Important Announcement: SCAL 1 and 2

thanks bud will try these but will it work with my Expression 2? :| No. No third-party software will work with the Expression 2. If you want to use software other than Provo Craft's own Craft Room, then return the Expression 2 and buy a different machine. The Sizzix eclips is very nice, has cartrid...

Re: Help with Tracing Image

I prefer to use GIMP for tracing images. I find it's magic wand tool to work better for me than SCAL. And I can save the selections as SVG that can be opened in SCAL.
