I'm a newbie and wondering about the safety of downloading fonts and dingbats from these sites. Has anyone some advice or experience with bad font sites vs good ones that are virus/spyware free?

Has anyone had problems with DS and SCAL software interacting with each other on the same computer? I am considering buying the SCAL (sounds fantastic) but I want to make sure it doesn't "foul-up" my operating system or affect the Cricut Expression.
